In my previous post, I've listed 3 good dress watches that you might like. A few days after posting that, I stumbled upon this great list of automatic watches under $200 (link to the article here) and was introduced to the Stuhrling Original watch - specifically the 133.33151 model no.
Without a doubt, this watch is a really good looking one. I love how the skeleton dial shows most of the internal automatic movement inside it. The black dial plate houses the silver markers
on it.
There's a subdial at the bottom dedicated to show the second hand (which is another unique aspect of the watch by the way).
While Stuhrling is usually associated with cheap replica watches, this Original model by them shows that the brand is capable of giving out more to watch fans. It looks astounding, mainly due to the complexity of the dial because of the skeleton design.
Yes, it can be a bit hard to tell time with because of the silver hand which is the same color with the internal movement.
Perhaps this is something that Stuhrling can improve in future. Blued or golden hands will work very very well with the dial.
In terms of size, it's moderately proportioned at 44 mm diameter, though I would like it a bit smaller at 40-42 mm.
There's nothing wrong with having a 44 mm diameter watch, but I just feel that a simple watch without any complications on it (no chronograph or moon phase, etc.) don't need to be that big.
But of course, Stuhrling must have their own reason for using this size - presumably because most millennial bought watches of this size - think Daniel Wellington watches. But still, a smaller option will make it something that will be hard for me to tell no to LOL!
Speaking about the price, I'd dare say it's much better if you get it from online retailers. Thing is, brands like Stuhrling and Invicta frequently jacked up the price of their watches and give steep discounts on it.
In my opinion, buying from online retailers such as Amazon.com or ebay will give you a much better deal. For example, this particular watch has an MSRP of ~$800 but on Amazon.com, it's retailing for about $150!
I'd dare say the same amount of discount, albeit smaller, will be given if you bought it from an authorized shop.
Regardless of their pricing tactics, this Stuhrling Original watch is quite a looker and might be something you might enjoy due to its unique and cool dial.
So what do you think of this watch? Like it or not? Write your comments below. Cheers!
